I was having flashbacks from my Theology of Place class with Dr. Norman Wirzba from last year while watching this. In reflecting on how place has made and impact on my life I have noticed that it wasn’t until I moved away from Louisiana that I made a real effort to learn how to cook gumbo. I think it has been a way for me to stay in touch with the place and the people that has shaped so much of my life. Another interesting observation is that when I cook gumbo is that I have wanted to share it. It is like I instinctively want to connect others to the place that shaped me through the meal. This get’s me wondering about when we share in the meal of communion. I wonder what place and what people the communion meal is connecting us too?
